The changes to the housing law allowing foreigners and Viet kieu (overseas Vietnamese) to buy houses in Viet Nam (from July 1) has had an impact on the housing market.
Viet Nam is considering changing the amended Housing Law, which is now
under discussion, to make it easier for foreigners and Vietnamese
expatriates to buy houses in the country.
House rentals are vastly different in HCM City and Ha Noi. For a similar
quality apartment in a comparable location, the rent in HCM City is
10-20 per cent higher than in Ha Noi.
A revised version of the Housing Law will soon allow foreigners and overseas Vietnamese to buy houses in Viet Nam. PM
Nguyen Tan Dung and other government officials have agreed that the
Ministry of Construction will introduce the revised regulation.
